CERRONE – GIVE ME LOVE (GIMMEE ALL THATCHYOO GOT)

Utterly catchy disco tune from the 70s:

And of course, remixes are always fun:

SATISFACTION

I get my satisfaction. It’s up to me, and nobody else but me. If everyone could clear this concept, then the world would be a better place.

Seriously, there are so many unhappy people who are looking to SOMEONE ELSE to satisfy them in one way or another…. It causes a lot of frustration and antipathy.

OK – here is a Satisfaction-Set going out to y’all – DJ IdeazGuy Is In Da House:

Shikao Suga

Funky Japanese music… was having sushi one afternoon and kind of thought to myself, “Is that Lenny Kravitz? It’s in … Japanese….”
Anyway, got the awesome waiter to tell me the musician and it’s Shikao Suga. I couldn’t find the exact song I heard at lunch on YouTube, but anyway, here’s a couple of decent songs:

HARRY BELAFONTE, NAT KING COLE, NANA MOUSKOURI, MARTY ROBBINS…

Was listening to Max Keiser on karmabanqueradio.com and he made a comment about Nana Mouskouri … hey I remember Nana Mouskouri albums around the house when I was a tiny kid.

Nana Mouskouri

It got me traveling down Memory Lane and here are some of my favourite picks from the olden days. My parents had a siiiick reel-to-reel tape deck & big fancy custom-doodle speakers from my Dad’s bachelor days (Mom made him get rid of the Jag, but I digress) – here are a few golden-oldies from my childhood and I’m throwing in the Leon Russel just because it seems to belong with the rest:

Harry Belafonte

Nat King Cole

Lena Horne – this is such a crazy video!

Gabor Szabo

Marty Robbins (Dad claimed this was shite and his brother had given him the album – but I listened to it over and over again)

Talbot Brothers (This is a different band, but totally reminds me of my Mom’s little portable turntable and Talbot Brothers Bermudian calypso music
albums!)

Leon Russell (just discovered this song in the summer of 2008, thanks, Rob! This would have blended in with my parents’
collection

CAVE SINGERS – DANCING ON OUR GRAVES

I just can’t stop playing this video over and over… it’s so great, but I can’t even put my finger on what I like about it so much! I love the sound of the song, the video is semi-creepy, semi-religiously-ecstatic… and I find the lyrics a bit lame! Maybe I don’t understand them – please comment!

Here is the EXCELLENT/ADDICTIVE video:
